MONADNOCK REGION, NH
WHAT: Spend a few hours with your AHCA-NE and BCNH friends taking part
in a scenic tour on back country roads in the lovely Monadnock Region of SW
NH. There will be spectacular views of the local mountains along the route that
will pass by numerous lakes and ponds. We will stop in the picturesque and
historic village of Harrisville, a designated National Historic Landmark, for a brief
walking tour of this preserved mill village. www.historicharrisville.org You will
also have the opportunity to stop in at the Harrisville Country Store and
Harrisville Designs store located in the village.
The Tour will start from the home of Bob Britton and Linda Hakala and end at the
MacDowell Lake Dam in Peterborough, NH for a picnic lunch. Bring a picnic
lunch with you or you can stop at the Nature’s Green Grocer in West
Peterborough which is located just before the access road to MacDowell Lake to
pick up one of their freshly made “Grab and Go” sandwiches. For those with a
sweet tooth the last stop after lunch will be at Charlie’s Olde Tyme Creamery ice
cream stand in Peterborugh.
WHEN: Thursday August 15 t h ( Rain date Friday 8/16 ) Gather between 10-11 at
Bob and Linda’s home to enjoy some fresh coffee/homemade coffee cake. The
tour will depart approximately at 11:00 AM and will be approximately 45 miles
long and will take about 1 ½-2 hours before arriving at the MacDowell Lake dam in
Peterborough, NH.
WHERE: 17 Bittersweet Lane, Hancock, NH. Follow your GPS to North RD
and then take a right on Bittersweet Lane. We are the 2 nd driveway on the right.
